Bubblepumps – Concept ideation

Deconstruction  | Reimagined  Iris Tenkink

When the mind bubbles with ideation.

Bubblepumps reimagine the deconstructed Nike Air as a playful study in visibility and tactility — turning the hidden air unit into an expressive identity.

Source material: Nike Air  | Rome, Italy

Stripped to its bare essentials — nose, heel, and sole — the Nike Air was reduced to its core structure to expose the hidden air pocket that defines its identity.

By incising the sole, the internal air unit was revealed and reinterpreted not as function, but as form.

A pink polymer intervention transforms the sneaker’s anatomy into Bubblegum Pumps — a speculative concept where the invisible becomes visible, and performance translates into play.

Source material: Nike Air footwear, used for design research and deconstruction analysis.
